Code of Conduct in Respect for Diversity

Antonio Divino Moura, Deputy Director, in the use of his legal attributions, and
- Considering that the Brazilian Federal Constitution establishes the dignity of the human person as one of the foundations of the Federative Republic of Brazil (article 1, item III),
- Considering that the Brazilian Federal Constitution prohibits any type of discrimination that differentiates treatment between men and women in social, work and legal relations by reason of color, sex, age, religious preference, among other characteristics (articles 5 and 7th, subsection XXX),
- Considering the need to establish a safe, productive and welcoming environment for anyone working at, studying at, providing services for, collaborating or visiting the Institute, decide:
- Article 1. Establishes this Code of Conduct in Respect for Diversity to be followed within INPE's facilities by all employees, as well as event participants, speakers, volunteers, external collaborators and service providers:
- Article 2. The following behavior is expected to be followed:
- All people, regardless of race, creed, gender, age, among other characteristics, should be treated with respect and consideration, valuing the diversity of views and opinions and providing a collaborative environment;
- Communication should be done in an open, respectful way, with criticism of ideas rather than individuals;
- Be alert to the work environment and colleagues, alerting those responsible in case of risk or imminent danger;
- Respect the other regulations and policies in force at INPE.
- Article 3. The following behavior is considered unacceptable:
- Harassment, intimidation or discrimination in any way;
- Physical or verbal abuse of any individual.
- Article 4. Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:
- verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion or nationality;
- inappropriate use of nudity and / or sexual imagery in public spaces or presentations;
- any kind of threat or harassment of any individual.
- Article 5. Consequences of non-compliance with this Code of Conduct:
- The penalties will be those provided by the current Brazilian legislation.
- Article 6. This Code of Conduct in Respect for Diversity shall enter into force on the date of its publication and shall be included in all event sites hosted by INPE. This code may be revised due to changes in legislation or by setting up a specific Working Group for this purpose.
